Sometimes it is hard to come up with some fun kids’ birthday theme party ideas. A simple get-together with cake and some presents never disappoint but, if you want to add a little more excitement and color, check out our brilliant birthday party ideas!

Before we go ahead and get into the various themes, here are some basic tips on how to plan your birthday party.

Plan ahead for a birthday theme

It is important to plan ahead. Begin by choosing the theme. Planning ahead, including choosing the theme, will make the party preparation process much easier and less stressful.

Decide who to invite

Determine your guest list. Sometimes it is very difficult to choose who is going to come, so many good choices! However, budget and space can sometimes call for a limited amount of people. Determining your guest list and sending invitations ahead of time is a great choice and will make planning much easier.

Determine where to have your party

Location is everything! Find the perfect place for your birthday party based on the theme you choose, the number of people, and your little dancer’s preferences and personality!

Plan the birthday cake

Do you want it to reflect the birthday party theme? 

Will you be able to bake it? Or should you order it? The birthday cake is probably the most important part of the party besides your little dancer, so get creative coming up with cool ideas for it!

Without further ado, here are the three fun kids birthday party theme ideas for your little dancer’s birthday party!

Animated movie theme

Nothing gets kids more excited than seeing their favorite animated movie come to life. Whether that is reflected in the cake, the napkins, the plates, or in decorations throughout the room, seeing animated figures around is sure to make your little dancer super happy. Why not try a Despicable Me-themed party or maybe a Little Mermaid themed party?

Race-car theme

This is a perfect theme for your little boy (or girl if she likes race cars!). The car models and tires are fun decoration ideas and you can choose any color you want for the cars. You can also go as big or small as you want in terms of how many decorations you put up. Either way, your little one will be delighted!

Ballerina theme

Last but not least, you can do a ballerina-themed birthday party. Seeing as your little dancer might already be taking ballet classes, it would be a great way to make dance even more fun in their lives! You can even invite your little dancer’s friends from class.

10% DISCOUNT Semester Auto-Renewal Registration: (This option is only valid at the beginning of a semester as it is not prorated.) Dancers’ registration continues semester to semester until family requests to switch to monthly enrollment or to cancel. Cancellation notifications must be submitted to the EvOLvE office via email prior to the next semester as the credit card on file will be automatically charged prior to the next semester starting. Kid’s dance class cancellation requests cannot be submitted to teachers. NO REFUNDS after the payment has been processed.

Monthly Auto-Renewal Registration: Dancers’ registration continues each month until family requests to switch to semester enrollment or to cancel. Minimum dance class enrollment is one month. Cancellation notifications must be submitted to the EvOLvE office via email prior to the 25th of the next month as the credit card on file will be automatically charged around the 28th of each month. Dance class cancellation requests cannot be submitted to teachers. NO REFUNDS after the payment has been processed. Billed monthly on the 28th of each month. Monthly charge will vary depending if it is a 3, 4 or 5-week month.

Registration Details for Kid's Dance Class

  • Although payment is organized in semesters or sessions, classes are designed to be progressive and ongoing throughout the year. Simply re-register session to session.
  • If paying at the front desk, credit cards, check or exact cash are accepted.
  • Please note that the City recreation center does not prorate if registering for the dance class late. Take advantage of our flexible make-up policy if you missed a class at the beginning of a session.
  • A dancer's spot in the dance class is only secured with payment as enrollment is first come, first served through the San Diego recreation center. No dancer can participate in a class without payment. You must re-register your dancer from session to session (or semester to semester) to secure their spot in the progressive dance class.
