Summer dance camp is an exciting part of a little dancer’s development. Little dancers get to meet lots of other students who share their love of dance and work with some fab teachers, while simultaneously learning to become a bit more independent. It’s a fantastic experience and way to spend a summer.
Although it may seem simple, sometimes knowing what to pack for summer dance camp can be difficult. But put the panic on hold as we’re about to share some packing tips.

The type of dance camp your little dancer is attending will determine what you need to pack in terms of clothes. Be sure to check with the studio for their dress code as might be different from regular classes.
For hip-hop classes at summer dance camp, a baggy t-shirt and loose pair of shorts/sweatpants is perfect. Add a sweatshirt, a cool hat and some tennis shoes – and you’re good to go.
For tap classes, any comfortable clothing is fine. Make sure to include tap shoes. Don’t have tap shoes? Some dress shoes will do.
Food and snacks
Your dancers will need as much energy as possible to go through the classes at summer dance camp so make sure to pack a water bottle and some healthy nibbles.
Some good ideas for snacks include the Clif Z Bar for Kids. Fruit is also a good energy source!
Lastly don’t forget to encourage your little dancer to have fun! Summer camps are designed to teach your little dancer new dance techniques but also for them to a good time. So be sure to get your little dancer pumped for a great summer at dance camp.
