Five fab ideas for summer 2021
Go to the zoo
The zoo is a great summer activity with your kid or toddler because there are many things you can see and do! Going to the zoo helps your children learn about endangered species. Being with these amazing animals can bring fun to your day and maybe even a new passion for your kid!
Head to Balboa Park Museums or the Chicago History Museum
Going to any museum, whether it’s history, science, or art, is a great summer activity for kids that can bring out hidden passions. Check out the Chicago History Museum to learn about Illinois’ own President Lincoln and ‘Lincoln’s Chicago.’ Balboa Park in San Diego is also a top spot because it has 17 museums as well as unique architecture.
Cool off
A great way to stay cool this summer is by heading to a waterpark. We have a soft spot for Mystic Waters Family Aquatic Center in Chicago and Aquatica in San Diego – both have fun water slides and cool activities to enjoy.
Hit the water
Going to the beach, lake, or even river can be fun for the whole family. If you are in San Diego head to Coronado. Chicago-based? Head to Lake Michigan! Both of the aforementioned are free, result! Get outside, cool off, and bring some beach games for all of you to enjoy.
Sign up for summer dance classes and camps
Dancing is, in a way, better than actual sports because you have the chance to be creative! You can tell a story through movement, and this is what makes it unique. Sign your child up for some fun dance classes or summer dance camps and you will have fun watching them grow. It is a wonderful summer activity for kids in San Diego and Chicago.

“We first discovered Dance to EvOLvE through a free dance program they put on at the local library. Since then, my daughter has been taking a Tiny Movers class for almost a year now (tap/ballet combo) and she absolutely loves it! Miss Amy is an AWESOME teacher! She is very knowledgeable about dance and makes the classes fun, age-appropriate, and encouraging for the kids. We’ve done a few makeup classes also and all the other teachers we encountered were so friendly, professional, and great with the kids. The company makeup policy is very flexible, which was so helpful when we had to miss class due to illness or travel. My daughter recently participated in her first recital and it was SO GREAT! The teachers did an incredible job preparing for a quality show. The dances were eclectic, the costumes were top-notch, the price was reasonable, and the kids seemed to have a great time! “My daughter is constantly playing ‘I’m Ms. Sara and you’re taking my dance class.’ She uses all the terms she has learned– passé, arabesque, heel-toe, etc. and leads her little sister, her dad and myself in a class, helping us out if we are doing a move incorrectly. If you’re looking for a hard core competitive dance class for your child this is not for you but if you want something easy and fun then sign up! Prices are very reasonable too!”
