Dance To EvOLvE
Our Friendly Teachers
We take our mission seriously ‘to evolve our students through dance while creating heart-warming smiles!’ This means great, highly trained teachers.
Hello Parents and Dancers!
Our Friendly Dance Teachers
We take our mission seriously ‘to evolve our students through dance while creating heart-warming smiles!’ This means great, highly trained teachers. I hand pick them based on their teaching background, dance experience, charisma, and professionalism. New EvOLvE teachers must also complete teacher training before taking on their own classes and all are required to complete yearly Dance To EvOLvE professional development workshops. This continuous training ensures that our teachers are always growing and improving, which is what I believe sets our company apart.
Our teachers also follow the copyrighted EvOLvE curriculum which gives enough flexibility for the teacher to adapt to specific class needs while also utilizing their own teaching strengths. The curriculum also ensures that all dance classes are learning progressive, age appropriate movement and technique. Although all our teachers follow the same class structure and format, they obviously have different personalities and teaching styles that will suit different dancers. Please read the bios below and feel free to call us to help you find the right class and teacher for your dancer!

Laray has been dancing since she was nine years old. In May of 2018, Laray graduated with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Dance & Science from San Diego State University. She performed with a University Dance Company for three years and also had the opportunity to share her experiences through an internship as a teacher’s assistant at Duke University in North Carolina. Dance to her has always been more than just movement; it is about sharing passion and allowing others to find a place where they can be themselves and create their own art expression in addition to embodying skills for their well-being.

A native San Diegan, Mary graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in English where she was the captain of the cheer squad and team choreographer.
While in college, she taught tap, jazz, and hip hop with San Diego Civic Dance Arts for 7 years, where she was a student from the age of 3. She has taught all levels, and all age groups. In fact, one of her most memorable students was a gentleman of 80 years young taking tap for the very first time when she taught at Southwestern College.
It was during the pandemic that she started dancing again, training nearly every day with online classes in hip hop and tap. The more she danced the more she realized how much she missed it, and missed teaching.
“What I missed most about teaching was seeing my students’ happy faces every day and knowing that I made a positive difference in their lives.” She thinks about her special needs students, her teeny tiny little ones, her 80 year old tap student and smiles, knowing she made the best decision of her life. “I am excited about creating something good through the love of music and dancing.”
Katie was born and raised in San Diego and loves calling it home. She has trained in tap, ballet, modern, jazz, and contemporary. Katie has been working as a teacher’s assistant with Dance To EvOLvE since early 2018 where she has grown and developed her teaching skills. She is currently a student at San Diego Mesa College and is pursuing her Degree in Dance. She had the honor of Performing with Mesa College Dance Company in 3 of the Company’s shows and at the San Diego International Fringe Festival. When she is not dancing she loves to bake, with her specialty being cupcakes. Katie wants to share her love and passion for dance with EvOLvE so she can inspire a new generation. She not only wants to help others grow as great dancers but help others to grow as great people.
