Fun Fourth of July activities for kids

The Fourth of July is fast approaching and that means red, white and… fun! However you are ringing in America’s birthday, our Fourth of July party ideas will help keep the kids entertained.

Food glorious food
The most essential part of any party is… the food! There are so many holiday snacks you can make, and the best part is that you can get the kids involved in the preparation.

There is always fun to be had decorating cookies or cupcakes with red, white and blue sprinkles. Another great summer dish that they can help you prepare is a refreshing fruit salad. Get creative using cookie cutters to cut fruit into cute star shapes that are sure to be a hit.

Decorations
Another area that the little ones love to help out with is the decorating. We’ve found a great way to not only create super cute star suncatchers, but also use all those old crayons you have laying around the house.

These festive decorations will definitely be a crowd pleaser at any party. What’s more, the kids will have a blast making them with you!

Elsewhere confetti launchers are the perfect at-home alternative to fireworks without all the safety hazards. Kids can help out with creating their own unique designs on the outside of the cannons and will love setting off their own fireworks.

Another easy craft that everyone can get involved in is the creation and exploration of slime – make the slime Fourth of July themed!

And finally, what better way to cool down on a hot summer’s day than to have a water balloon fight?! Split into different teams and have Patriots against the British to have your own historical battle.

Music
The last key ingredient to any party is the music. Make sure to have a playlist planned with all your family’s favorite songs to groove to. Your little ones will love busting out some of the moves they have been learning in their Dance To EvOLvE classes.

10% DISCOUNT Semester Auto-Renewal Registration: (This option is only valid at the beginning of a semester as it is not prorated.) Dancers’ registration continues semester to semester until family requests to switch to monthly enrollment or to cancel. Cancellation notifications must be submitted to the EvOLvE office via email prior to the next semester as the credit card on file will be automatically charged prior to the next semester starting. Kid’s dance class cancellation requests cannot be submitted to teachers. NO REFUNDS after the payment has been processed.

Dance class cancellation requests cannot be submitted to teachers. NO REFUNDS after the payment has been processed. Billed monthly on the 28th of each month. Monthly charge will vary depending if it is a 3, 4 or 5-week month.

Registration Details for Kid's Dance Class

  • Although payment is organized in semesters or sessions, classes are designed to be progressive and ongoing throughout the year. Simply re-register session to session.
  • If paying at the front desk, credit cards, check or exact cash are accepted.
  • Please note that the City recreation center does not prorate if registering for the dance class late. Take advantage of our flexible make-up policy if you missed a class at the beginning of a session.
  • A dancer's spot in the dance class is only secured with payment as enrollment is first come, first served through the San Diego recreation center. No dancer can participate in a class without payment. You must re-register your dancer from session to session (or semester to semester) to secure their spot in the progressive dance class.
