Why is it important to buy the right attire?

For classes such as ballet or tap, it is important that dancewear fits properly and comfortably. There should not be anything loose or baggy. This allows the teacher to see the child’s form and give corrections. Hair should be pulled back because it is important to keep hair from falling on little faces to avoid any distractions. Concentration and focus are key to a successful class!

When it comes to hip hop classes, there is more freedom regarding what to wear. With this class, dress code is typically clothes that provide comfort and freedom of movement. Here is where you go for the bag and swag!

Following dress codes in dance classes is very important because it allows children to feel part of a team. When they have all dressed appropriately, they will know that class is in session and will be ready to listen. Not only that, but they will feel like a dancer because they are dressing the part!

If you are not aware, Target is a discount retailer. There is a high chance that you may have come here for school supplies or clothes – boy, do they have cute clothes. What you may have not known about Target is that it not only has regular discounted clothes but discounted dance clothes. You can find leotards, tights, tutus and ballet shoes on the cheap. 

Payless:

In the market for cheap dance shoes? Check out Payless. Payless has more variety than Target, plus they have tap shoes and jazz shoes alongside ballet shoes. You can also find affordable dance tights.

Discount Dance:

Discount Dance is a dancewear mega store that offers brand-name dance clothes for kids and adults: expect to find shoes, tights, recital costumes, and more. This is a great website to constantly browse because they always have discounted dancewear – the clue is in their name!

For those of you in Southern California, there are a couple of physical stores as well: in La Mesa, CA, and Santa Ana, CA. Staff are kids’ dancewear experts and will help you figure out what clothes and shoes are appropriate for your child. That way you won’t make the mistake of purchasing shoes so small they can only be worn for a month, or too big that your kids are tripping over clown feet!

10% DISCOUNT Semester Auto-Renewal Registration: (This option is only valid at the beginning of a semester as it is not prorated.) Dancers’ registration continues semester to semester until family requests to switch to monthly enrollment or to cancel. Cancellation notifications must be submitted to the EvOLvE office via email prior to the next semester as the credit card on file will be automatically charged prior to the next semester starting. Kid’s dance class cancellation requests cannot be submitted to teachers. NO REFUNDS after the payment has been processed.

Auto-Renewal & Registration Details Monthly Auto-Renewal Option

Monthly Auto-Renewal Registration: Dancers’ registration continues each month until family requests to switch to semester enrollment or to cancel. Minimum dance class enrollment is one month. Cancellation notifications must be submitted to the EvOLvE office via email prior to the 25th of the next month as the credit card on file will be automatically charged around the 28th of each month. Dance class cancellation requests cannot be submitted to teachers. NO REFUNDS after the payment has been processed. Billed monthly on the 28th of each month. Monthly charge will vary depending if it is a 3, 4 or 5-week month.

Registration Details for Kid's Dance Class

  • Although payment is organized in semesters or sessions, classes are designed to be progressive and ongoing throughout the year. Simply re-register session to session.
  • If paying at the front desk, credit cards, check or exact cash are accepted.
  • Please note that the City recreation center does not prorate if registering for the dance class late. Take advantage of our flexible make-up policy if you missed a class at the beginning of a session.
  • A dancer's spot in the dance class is only secured with payment as enrollment is first come, first served through the San Diego recreation center. No dancer can participate in a class without payment. You must re-register your dancer from session to session (or semester to semester) to secure their spot in the progressive dance class.
